Simply awesome video. Power always come easy if you swing fast but not hard. Swinging not hitting. I loved this video. Would love to see you take a senior player 65 to 75 years old and do a before and after for swing speed and distance. All 3 of you are very athletic. But I’ll bet this one lesson could really help seniors play so much better.

Here's my wish - take Sav and Mu out and pair them up with some of the haters below and see how many excuses your "experts" can come up with when they get out-driven shot after shot. Had to like and subscribe. Haven't gotten out to try this method yet, but I know it has to work because some of my best drives have been hit during a crappy game of golf when Ive just “given up” and used minimal effort on the next teebox. Smacked the snot out of the ball with like 20% effort.

Exactly!! This is all due to the kinetic chain of the human machine that is activated at it’s most efficient through full range of motion that is free of strain.

  • Lindsay Newell

WOW ! In the slo mo you can see how much lag they all create - that's what I need for more speed at impact.

    • Shawn Clement’s Wisdom In Golf Lessons

Shawn Clement’s Wisdom In Golf Lessons

      Сарын өмнө

So glad you took the time to see that Lindsay! That is what gets the explosiveness in that last millisecond; the rest of the swing just needs to have an adequate range of motion and a task that delivers a nice kinetic chain engagement through to the target. It is impossible to hold it back once it engages and the more you strain, the more you get in the way of this engagement.

Yes, this seems hard to believe because our brains associate power to effort; here is another testimonial from another student who just went out and tried it: Dear Shawn
I have struggled with my driving for 8 years. I could not hit more than 220 yards and have seen many instructors with nothing working.
I watched your video gently drive your golf ball 300 yards, went to the practise ground with my children to pick the balls up after my shots and it worked !. Thank you ever so much.
Your other videos are first class too.

i find alot of this data on these simulators to be incorrect and not real world like ,, i mean i am in canada at sea level and i can swing the club between 110 and 115 mph and theres no way i hit 300 yard drives like these machines make it out to be. i do pop some out past 300 once in a while but you need alot of roll out and or help from the wind ,helI was out yesterday and it was 12 degrees celcius and without much roll in the fairways , i could barely hit it 260 to 270 with perfect contact. and here at 97mph swing speed shes carrying 240+ yards and 265 total.????

one of the big things you need to understand, to the people watching this video.... the whole point of this is that you want to have the club head being accelerated.... if you try to hit the ball with the club it will cause you to use different muscles in your body, which could be more kind of like hitting a nail with a hammer.... muscling it in there..... there is your power..... however, imagine one of those amusement park swing rides.... they dont muscle you out.... it gently builds up that centripetal or centrifugal (idf remember which is which) and pushes you out..... ok well this is what you want to do with the driver.... you want to use a big range of motion in your body in order to build up that momentum in the club head and that is what will have the club achieve faster speeds in order to hit further.

Gauging how fast your swing is, (adding 10% etc.) a difficult thing to do as well. What's happening here to give her the distance she gets with half my club head speed?

Applied this at the range today after watching this a few times. I'm LH and was hitting a major draw at the start and then remembered Sav doesn't address the ball head on there is about a 3" gap between ball and club to ensure you're coming up on the ball. Wow. That was the ticket. Thank you for all your well detailed videos. I hit 20 drives, perfectly straight, around 300 yards effortlessly.

In reality none of those weak swings under 100mph are coming anywhere close to 300 yards. These machines are wayyyy off from reality. I’ve seen people get these numbers and on the course almost 40-50 yards shorter from these trackers. I hit my driver from 280-300 on course and on these tracker machines they put me around 220

A little story that really pretty much directly relates to this, so I'm pretty young in this story I think 13-14 and me and my dad go golfing. Now I have only been a few times before so I'm still very noob and trying to figure everything out. My thinking was the harder I swing the better the ball is gonna go so every drive I would try to crush it and every time it would just barely dribble off or maybe go like 50 yards or maybe I sort of got good contact but it was so far off target and even then only would go like 80 yards at most. At this point I was very frustrated and just wanted to go home and so on this one drive I told myself I'm just barely gonna swing cause I'm so over it and I did and it freaking LAUNCHED off my driver!! I was absolutely blown away and completely mind tripped out and couldn't believe that I barely swung and it went 10000x further and straight then any other drive!! That day changed my life hahaha thought I would share I know it was long sorry lol

    • Derick Shull

@Stooders Fam I haven't used the machine but I agree with you. If those numbers are to be believed, then the man and woman featured in the video just outdrove the average driving distances for the LPGA (230-290) and PGA (290), respectively. In fact, when they claimed Mu LH drove over 350 yards, they are claiming he hit the average total driving distance for a long drive competition. The only way to transfer the force needed to propel a golf ball those distances is with clubhead speed and near perfect efficiency. A professional golfer should have a driving efficiency of about 2.60 yards/mph. At this efficiency, a 350 yard drive corresponds to a clubhead speed of about 135 mph. Since the video is claiming these distances are achievable at speeds of ~110 mph, they are claiming these golfers have a driving efficiency of ~3.2 (whereas a low handicap golfer's efficiency is about 2.3). In other words, they are claiming that the featured golfers are swinging with 23% greater efficiency than PGA tour professionals. And, they're being gentle.
